Apple Safari - open source - yes there are unique tools and capabilities. There are plug ins and add ons. http://www.demongeek.com/ has a list of the most popular plug ins and addons. Apple is losing its market share.
Google Chrome - open source - yes there are unique capabilities and tools. There are plug ins and addons. http://www.chromeplugins.com/ had a list of them. Yes google chrome has a market share with 1% of usage and slowly improving.
I selected Mozilla. I am familiar with this browser and use it all the time. The other options do meet my needs, I have used Mozilla more. No, I did not find any that influenced my decision.

Since you're a Firefox user... If you haven't taken a look at Zotero.org - a plugin for Firefox - it's worth some time. It's a research manager; if you have to do any sort of research project using bib cards and note cards - Zotero is a wonderful thing.
