Peripherals, Accessories and Software

For the finishing touches on my computer I would need:

Mouse
Keyboard
Speakers and Sound Card
Printers
Internal Optical drive
External Storage
Probably Gaming accessories

This list will help my computing needs. I will most definently need a keyboard, so I can type anything that deals with words or numbers. A mouse to help me select for my shopping, work, designing, and whatever I am doing on the computer. Speakers so I can have adequate sound. Not sure if I really need gaming accessories but it wouldn't hurt. The list of items will put the finishing touches on my computer. I'm sure there could be more but I really don't need a over the top computer.

Video Card and Display

The computer that I chose that best meets my need is the Inspiron 580S and Studio XPs 8100.

1. What video card is included in the technical specifications?
a. Integrated Intel graphics Media Accelerator HD
b. nVIDIA GeForce, G310 512 MB DDR3

2. What options do they have for display?
No options

3. What are the difference between the two options?
The Studio XPs 8100 is more for photo enhancing and projects.

4. What screen size and resolution and video capabilities do you need? Why?
a. no display
b. Integrated 18,5" wLCD, 16:9 Aspect Ratio, WXGA (1366x768)

5. Which option did you select?
Probably the studio xps 8100. The display is plenty big enough. I do not need anything bigger. This computer had a succifient amount of memory, the hard drive is plenty big enough and the display is really nice. I would be happy with it. I would like to purchase this computer.

Internal And External Ports

The 580S from Dell has several ports. Which consist of:

Front Ports
USB 2.0 (2)
Headphone connector
Microphone Connector

Rear Ports
Microphone connector
Line in Connector
Line Out Connector
Multimedia Card Reader
Memory Stick PRO
Multimedia Card Micro
Memory Stick DUO
Memory Stick PRO DUO
Smart Media Card
XD Picture Card
Micro Drive

These days computers come with USB ports. The ports are used for many reasons. I use three of my ports daily. One for my mercury stick for my Internet, one for my printer and one for my flash drive. I also connect my phone and camera often. There are other ports on the computer that are located in the back.

Ram Options

1. What options do you have?
a.2GB Dual Channel DDR2-SDRAM at 800MHz-2DIMM
b.2GB " " DDR3 ' " 1066MHz "
c.4GB Dual Cahnnel DDR3 - SDRAM at 800 MHz - 4DIMM

2. What are the differences between the options?
Three have 3GB and two have 4GB

3. Whats the highest recommended RAM requirements?
256MB RAM the Microsoft Office Student 2007

4. Which option are you going to select?
I would probably pick the 4GB. Personally 4GB is plenty of Ram for my computer usage. Its a little more than I need But it should last me a while.

5. How does that help make your computer a "Goldilocks" computer for you?
Just right, I only use my computer for home and school use. Having more RAM will allow me to do a lot more.

Hard Drive options

First I chose the Desktops that best meet my needs.

1. What options do you have?
a. 250 GB-7200RPM-SATA Hard drive
b. 320GB-Serial SATA Hard drive (7200 RPM) with Data Burst cache
c. 320 GB-Serial SATA Hard drive (7200 RPM) with Data Burst cache
d. 320 GB-7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s.16MB cache
e. 320 GB_7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s.16MB cache

2. What were the differences between the options?
Two were added with data burst cache and two have 26MB cache.

3. What were the storage requirements?
500MHz-RAM 256MB-HD 1.5GB

4. Which option are you going to select?
I would probably choose the 320GB-7200RPM SATA-3.0Gb/s 16MB cache Hard Drive

5. Why do you only need the included hard drive option and not need one of the upgrade option?
I'm pretty sure this hard drive is plenty bug enough for all that I do. I only use my computer for home and school.

6. How does that help your computer a "Goldilocks" computer for you?
Just right, I'm not good with computers. Having a computer with sufficient space will allow me to run the programs I want and my computer won't freeze. This is Goldilocks enough for me.

Computer Processor I am Choosing

The options at Dell.com were:

Design Operating System
Personalize----$85 Windows 7 Premium ------Included
Black ----------Included Professional---------------$130
Ice Blue--------$40 Premium w/extra transfer cable----$30
Promise Pink----$40

Microsoft Office 2007 Core
Trial Version--------Included i3-330m------Included
Hame and Student 2007-----$119

Front Side
1066 MHz--------Included

The highest recommended processor speed was Intel COre i3-330m. I think I am ok with the processor that comes witht the laptop. As I personalized it, Dell did not say If I needed to upgrade. This Laptop has plenty of space, as for the memory, hard drive, the processor and the front side, all are just what I need. I am only using the Laptop for home and School purposes. If I ran my own business then maybe I would need to upgrade.

Explaning the Basic Computer Configuration that Meet my Needs

According to Dell.com, I would need a USSF Form Factor. I really do not need a specific size or shape . However, I did find a new Inspiron Zino HD. It's a new mini desktop computer. The desktop would meet my needs but I would prefer a Laptop, only because I can take it were ever I need to. As I looked through Dell.com I did find a Laptop that I really liked. The Inspiron 14 (1464), has pretty much everything I need. 4GB Memory, 250 GB Hard Drive, camera, DVD Player, Windows 7, and the new Intel Core i3. The memory I defiantly need because I really can't do a lot with less memory. Also, the Hard Drive is bigger.
